The Maxwell VW10-8 Chainwheel is ideal for use in sailing boat anchor lockers with small spaces. It’s designed for traditional rope and chain combination anchor rodes, where manual transfer of the rode from the rope warping drum to the chainwheel is required. This combination provides the versatility of operating two anchors from one winch. The chainwheel allows rope hauling from any direction using an independent MAX-grip snag-free warping drum with clutch disengagement of the chainwheel for positive control of all ropes.
The Maxwell VW10-8 Chainwheel also permits the use of traditional shackle and thimble rope and chain connections. It allows alternative horizontal mounting on a fore and aft bulkhead inside a chain locker for below deck installation. Manufactured from marine grade stainless steel and chromed bronze with a high-quality finish, the VW10-8 is incredibly durable, guaranteed to provide many years of high-quality service.
The Maxwell VW10-8 Chainwheel’s cone-type brake/clutch mechanism lets you use manual free fall anchoring. Cone clutches, unlike dog clutches, provide smooth progressive engagement ensuring safe operator control. Thanks to its modular design and precise alignment of the gearbox, the VW10-8 is easy to install. It also dissembles easily for servicing.
