Transducer positioning for HDS Gen 2 units

So Lowrance have just released the HDS Gen 2 Chartplotters. These are upgraded versions of, their already popular, HDS units. Although the Gen 1 and Gen 2 units are identical, the HDS Gen 2 features faster processors and increased internal memory.

But the flagship feature of the HDS Gen 2 is the Structure Map. How this feature works is a bit tricky to explain, but basically it helps boaties and fishos to view and create life-like underwater images. Makes a big difference when fishing!

Important to note though that the Structure Map is an overlay feature, so you still need the Structure Scan Module to make the most out of this feature. They fill out any gaps between each other. Folks who see the Structure Map will immediately understand Structure Scan better.

A quick note when installing the Structure Scan transducer… Make sure it’s less than 1 foot away from your broadband sounder transducer. This is so you get optimum performance of the Downscan Overlay feature.
