Increase water salinity in the treatment tank
The LectraSan Waste Treatment System doesn't require a salt feed system for ocean water use as the salinity of the saltwater is sufficient to operate the system as designed. However, brakish or fresh water flush requires additional salt to provide acceptable treatment and keep the unit operating correctly. This is where the Raritan 2-Gallon Salt Feed Unit comes in.
A concentrated saltwater solution is maintained in the salt feed tank. This concentrated salt water is metered into the suction line of the toilet or injected into the treatment tank when the water used in the boat's toilet is not salty enough for the system to operate properly. The device is designed such that when using water near ocean salinity the salt feed tank will not be required. The LectraSan Control Indicator Panel will show when the Salt Feed Tank needs to be refilled with more salt solution.
