The NZ Pine Varnished Wooden Oars are made from beautifully finished, finest quality NZ Tasman fir. They're finely sanded and grain-sealed before varnishing. These oars are strong, robust and durable, yet lightweight and easy to handle. Every oar is a perfect specimen and the perfect partner for your next water adventure.
What length do you need?
As a general guide the oar length should be 40 - 50% greater than the boat's beam. Some of the variables that may affect the length required are, distance between rowlocks, the free board (height of boat sides), sea state, wind strength, rowers strength, skill and experience. Longer oars allow for greater rowing efficiency. Shorter oars might be better suited to the novice rower.
