For fishing flies just below the surface
The Scientific Anglers Sonar Hover Fly Line is excellent for slow fishing streamers, booby flies and smelts in lakes and over drop offs. The extra slow sink rate keeps the line just below the surface as you slow retrieve. Being subsurface it's less likely to be pushed about by cross winds when retrieving. It is built a half line weight heavier than the stated line weight to help load fast action rods. It has the improved AST slickness now called ST+ which keeps the line floating high and shooting further than non-coated lines. Its smaller diameter cuts through wind to turn over bulky streamers.
