The Reel
The TiCA Oxean OX50TS 2-Speed Game Reel features a one-piece, corrosion resistant lightweight graphite frame. The dual carbon drag plates sit either side of the spool to ensure smoothness and dissipate heat. Maximum drag is rated at 18kg. There's an extra loud line out alarm so you can easily hear the fish strike. The two speed ratios are 3.2:1/1.4:1 giving line retrieve rates of 96.5cm/42.2cm per handle turn at full spool. 6 sealed precision stainless steel rust resistant ball bearings provide smoothness and reliability. The Oxean is equally at home trolling for Tuna and Marlin in summer, or deep water bottom fishing with braid for Hapuka or Broadbill in winter.
The Rod
The Kilwell EG592 Bent Butt Fully Rollered Game Rod is designed and built for NZ conditions. It's made using a blend of durable E-glass infused with graphite under high pressure results with proven performance. It features a full set of wind-on roller guides. When the line runs over the guides under pressure, the rollers turn thus decreasing the drag or friction on the line, reducing line stress. In turn, you get more life from your line and less chances of a bust off. This rod is finished with a removable alloy bent butt and leather bound grip. The detachable bent butt is the new longer version with length of 25cm before the bend, so that the gimbal fitting will engage in most rod holders without the need for an extender plug.
