It's created from a metal alloy with a more negative electrothermal potential than the metal it protects. This means that this anode is consumed in place of the metal it's protecting so it needs to be replaced regularly.

The Zinc Teardrop Anode is manufactured to conform to US military standard MIL-A-18001 K composition. This zinc teardrop shaped anode comes with 2 fixing holes so you can screw it conveniently in place. Get one and then some so you can continuously protect your boat.
